Opening the 2023 Season: New Hampshire Renaissance Faire!

I’m PSYCHED!

In just under two weeks I’ll be at the New Hampshire Renaissance Faire with the Brotherhood of tohe Arrow and the Sword. This will be our first event of the regular faire season. I’ve been training all winter but I haven’t actually been in a fight since Halloween, due to scheduling, winter illnesses, etc.

Once again, the Brotherhood of the Arrow and Shield will be setting up a small, military encampment that you can visit, as well as a display tent where you can check out the arms and armor we use and you can even hold or try on a few select pieces! As always, you can find my tent by looking for my coat of arms on the flag – On a white background, an inverted black chevron, and above a red fish and below, two blue fish. These fish are the heraldic representation of the common European bullhead (Cottus gobio), which in Old French is called a chabot. My last name is Chabot… Ask me about my heraldry when you visit.

Some of the upgrades I have ready are a new left shoulder armor (pauldron), new gauntlets, potentially a new water barrel, and maaaaybe, hopefullt my new armet helmet and gorget might be ready by the time the Faire begins. I’ll also have a new maille skirt and if I can get them mounted, I have new voiders. This will make all my maille bits now 6mm inner diameter – VERY fine maille, but kind of heavy. I’ll also have a nearly matched pair of practice poleaxes to show some historical techniques. I’m bust painting a new (huge) chest, based off a number of originals. I’m not sure I’m going to keep it though, as it is huge. I’m likely to make a smaller one fortravel and sell this one off, but for noe, it should make a decent storage bin (to keep my big plastic armor box out of sight) and also a bench for people to sit on when I don’t need to get into it.

EDITOR’s NOTE: We do not allow comment spam here. Take a hike. I’ve removed your email address and the stupid URL you’re trying to get “backlinks” for. This isn’t 1997. That stuff is rude.
