It’s Sunday, the 13th of March. I attended a practice for the Boston Dark Knights at Knights Hall in Nashua, NH this afternoon. I say attended, not participated because I’m still nursing a damaged rib. About 2 1/2 weeks ago, I fell off the horse I was riding and landed chest first on my fist. I’m OK: Just a minor wound.
I figured I should check in. 2 1/2 weeks ago, I fell while horse riding. Nothing major, but I landed on my fist, damaging a rib. I think it is slightly cracked. I’ve been out of any serious fight practices and workouts since then. Wednesday I tried and realized I still had some healing to do.
My chosen hobbies involve an element of risk and I’m OK with that – probably more OK than some of my friends. I am fully aware, some might say intimately aware, of the dangers involved in armored combat and also in horse riding, especially as I am approaching my 50th birthday. I’d tather live life to the fullest than take no chances an be safe about everything. Safety, while not an after thought, is balanced with enjoyment.
For those who want to see me at public events, I’ll urge you to look at the New Hampshire Renaissance Faire. I’ll be fighting all 4 days of the faire, along with the Brotherhood of the Arrow and Sword. Come say hello!
In the mean time, I’ll be finishing healing of my rib, learning to ride better, and practicine armored combat and of course, basic fitness.
